With an eye roll, Arthur took a few steps ahead. Of course Alfred hadn’t paid for his groceries. He stood by the exit, waiting for his mate as the clerk checked him out. Alfred was just as stiff and unsocial to these mortals as he was, he seemed more interested in the machines they used to scan the products it seemed. It made the Briton grin lightly.
Once he saw the demon pacing over to him Arthur turned on his heels, and began to walk out of the automatic doors. He felt a tug on his coat as he stepped outside. He blinked his emerald eyes up to the demon who grinned at him with a hunch to be the same height as the mage, and dropped the extra change into his coat pocket. He rolled his eyes, making use of his free hand and playfully shoving the demon’s face up from his height. “Oh yes, thanks,” he drawled with a light smile. “And no, I wasn’t,” he lied easily as he passed by the many cameras and humans now entering.
He continued out of the entrance to Lucky’s; he could still feel the camera’s glass eyes on his back. He probably hated that most about stores. Arthur reached into his pocket and grabbed the change, managing to get it into his wallet with his one hand. “We’ll be going to the book store now.” The petite blonde said. He is more accustomed to the public library but Alfred wanted to buy a book, but that’s as fine.
Alfred grinned and laughed as the mage pushed him back upwards to his actual height. He obeyed and stood up again, still hauling his bag over his shoulder with his right hand. His ears twitched at the sudden noise of the whooshing doors and then the crowded outside.
The demon looked up to the sky, noting the sun being snuffed out by clouds today. His blue eyes flicked back to the ground where he normally stared. “Probably gonna rain soon.” He stated, following in step after his mate. He was happy that they were going to get books now. That interested him more than food did- which was saying something.
The crowds were swarming again. They seemed almost to have gotten thicker if that was at all possible. There were large loud vehicles ambling around with mortals inside. They smelled like baking tires, and were an eyesore to the demon. One particularly large car with an agitated mortal inside who wasn’t really looking where he was going- Alfred only noticed when the car stopped right beside him. The front of the car seemed to huff out hot air like a bull.
“Watch where you’re goin! Freaking weirdo!” He stared at the man with a raised brow. Was he hard to see? The demon silently mused what would have happened had the car run him over. He could just lift it off and walk off like nothing happened. Slowly, he put his hand upon the hot machine, a sweet smile on his face- sickly sweet. “Sorry.” His voice was dripping with murderous intent. The man huffed and moved back into his car. As he did and Al moved to continue following his mate, the demon clenched his hand around the muffler, the result bending the metal into a small ball.
To be honest, he wasn’t sure if anyone noticed, including the driver. But it was so easily done that anyone who even thought ‘did he just bend that metal?’ would shake their heads at the crazy though. Alfred snickered and stalked after Arthur.
A light chuckle came from the mage’s mouth and joined his mate’s cheery laughter. It was odd how much they could seem like mortals, walking about as if no one would care, but in this situation it was fortunate. He silently took Alfred’s larger hand, continuing to look forward as if he did no such action. He couldn’t help but keep a very thin smile pulling on his lips.
His gaze followed his mates, looking to the clouds that slowly crawled to cover the blue sky. “Deems like it,” Arthur replied. He tore his gaze away from the sky and continued to stare forward. He hoped it wouldn’t rain as they walked to the store.
As they navigated through the crowd, slinking between the mortals that hurried to get where ever they needed to be. Arthur tightened his grip on his mate’s larger and warmer hand. His free hand held his groceries close to his hip (not that he’d care if they got at all ruined ). He felt the dirty mortals brush against his hands and shoulders. He grimaced. It disgusted him.
Arthur pulled Alfred out of the crowd so they waited at the side of the concrete. He stared at the zooming cars until a white, blinking man appeared on the signal across the road. He walked out into the street, making sure Alfred followed behind him. The emerald eyes watched as the rest of the human’s walked ahead of the two. He felt Alfred tug behind him, and a roar of a car sound. He narrowed his eyes and blinked to look at the large truck with an angry male standing outside of the open door. He yelled at Alfred, imminently causing the Briton to scowl sourly. Arthur blinked his emerald eyes, opening them to a demon with his fist tightened around a newly made ball of metal. He grinned slightly, but hoped they weren’t seen. Alfred snickered and followed the mage. He rolled his emerald eyes.
”You shouldn’t do that,” he let out a small breath of laughter as they reached the other side of the concrete.
Alfred felt himself be tugged away from the front of the vehicle before he could potentially cause any more damage or be caught. The car moved and sped away, not noticing the damage on it. It didn’t seem like anyone noticed in that blink of an eye. Well, Arthur seemed to have noticed, but he had been right beside him.
“Why not?” The demon raised a brow, a small pout on his face. “I think he deserved it.” His tail wagged lightly below his shirt, not visible to anyone, but it felt odd to the demon. He wished he could have his tail out, as it was uncomfortable to hide it away.
As they got to the sidewalk, the crowd made thinner lines- it reminded Alfred of ants going to and back from their ant-hole. He continued to follow after Arthur, not wanting to get lost in the stream of moving mortals. “It’s not like anyone saw me anyway.” He added after a moment with a sly smirk. “Now he’s going to be surprised when he finds out there’s a ball in his muffler.” He had considered scratching it, but that would have made a sound, and using his fire would catch someone’s eye, so strength was more subtle.
